Edward R. Marcantonio, MD, SM
Dr. Edward Marcantonio is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and serves as Section Chief for Research in the Division of General Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he leads the Division’s Aging Research Program. A board certified internist and geriatrician, Dr. Marcantonio is a physician scientist and thought leader in the field of delirium, a common, morbid and costly condition in hospitalized older adults. Dr. Marcantonio has conducted multiple major observational and intervention studies to improve identification of delirium, target individuals at risk, identify modifiable risk factors, and test intervention strategies to reduce the incidence, severity and duration of delirium. He has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers, which have been cited over 40,000 times.
